Donations and Volunteers Needed for Ixia Plant Sale
Spring is here, flowers are blooming and we need your help! Ixia’s Seventh Annual Plant Sale will be held in Native Park 1 and 2 on April 9, 2022 from 10 am – 2 pm. Once again, we will be part of RAP’s annual Home Tour. You can help in two ways:
1. DONATE PLANTS
Now is the time to pot up plant donations! There are many ways to propagate plants you already have in your yard - root cuttings, pot up volunteers, divide perennials. Tips for this can be found on the Ixia website at this link: Plant Propagation Tips. Here are guidelines to use in the interests of uniformity and a professional appearance.
Pots
Use 4", 1 gallon or 3 gallon pots. Free pots are available in Native Park 1, 3306 Park Street, 32205 so help yourself as needed.
Plant labels
All plants MUST be identified and labeled. Ixia provides labels and plants cannot be accepted at the sale without a label. Please email a list of the names and numbers of each type of plant you are donating along with your home address to Cate Hurlbut at ixiachapter@gmail.com no later than Wednesday March 30. Labels will be mailed to you in time to put on plant pots.
Drop off your labeled plants between 8 and 9 am on April 9 at Native Park 1. Look for the table labeled PLANT DROP OFF. If you are unable to drop off your plants on the morning of the sale, contact Bonnie Sinatro at ixiachapter@gmail.com.
2. VOLUNTEER AT THE PLANT SALE
Our annual Plant Sale is fun! No matter what experience-level gardener you are or how many hours you can give, we hope you will participate. We set up at 8 and break down by 2 so come join some entertaining native plant enthusiasts in a beautiful setting. Email Bonnie at ixiachapter@gmail.com with your availability.
Thank you for all that you do to promote native plants and to support Ixia.'
Best wishes, The Ixia Plant Sale Committee
